Let's begin...
When SpamPal first tries to access the internet
The first time SpamPal runs (to either collect your email or to see if there are any updated programs/plugins) Zone Alarm will see that SpamPal is trying to access the internet and will popup a warning box:
You should now tick the Remember this answer the next time I use this program box

Updates to SpamPal
If you have downloaded and installed a new version of SpamPal then Zone Alarm will see that the spampal.exe has changed and therefore, you may see the following popup box:

Advanced configuration
If you wish to check what setting Zone Alarm is currently using for SpamPal then, from the Zone Alarm's systray icon, access the Program Control box:
Note 1: New versions of ZoneAlarm Pro can possibly lock up Agent

Versions 4.0.123.012 and higher of ZoneAlarm Pro let you optionally configure certain events when applications ask for Internet access. The default configuration, however, can cause Agent to freeze in certain instances.

To correct this behaviour, open the ZoneAlarm Pro control panel and click Program Control. Next select Agent and then click on the Options button. This will open a small window titled Program Options. The Authenticate Components option under the category, Authentication is checked by default. Change this to Authenticate program by full path name only.

Note 2: ZoneAlarm informs me that SpamPal wants to act as a server?

SpamPal needs to act as a (local) server so that your email program can connect to it. Provided you've got SpamPal configured to listen on 127.0.0.1 (which is the default setting) it'll only accept connections from the loopback interface (ie the local machine) and ZoneAlarm really shouldn't be warning about that, so always answer NO when asked!
